I understand the journey of motherhood: the ups and downs and everything in between.
The abundance of information at our fingertips is wonderfully overwhelming, but there are times when a new mom requires visceral, hands-on help.
New moms sometimes find themselves away from friends and family who naturally make up the support village. Like their babies, new moms need to feel that they are being held and nurtured.
My personal experience with two children has shown me firsthand the importance of community assistance.
I had my first child Charles in Los Angeles. There were complications and I was not prepared after he was delivered by C-section.
I didn't do sufficient research. My husband and I were left to figure it out. My parents lived miles away and had difficulty with driving. I needed a support village. I remember just wanting someone to make me a big pot of chicken noodle soup.
By the time my daughter Katherine was born in 1994, I had made it my life's mission to have my village family in place. She was born VBAC so it was much easier to get back on track. I had the support I needed to prioritize my nourishment and house management so that I could focus on my newborn.
I have come to realize that the combination of my educational, professional and life experiences could be bundled up to provide a much needed service to new moms.
I have earned a culinary degree at the California School of Culinary Arts - Cordon Bleu Program in Pasadena, California. Throughout my life, I have held various positions in the food industry such as server, bartender, caterer, manager, chef, and business owner.
I am here to add support to the village.
It would be my pleasure to make that big bowl of chicken noodle soup!
